بِسْمِ ٱللَّهِ ٱلرَّحْمَٰنِ ٱلرَّحِيمِ
bismi llāhi r-raḥmāni r-raḥīm
In the name of Allah, the Most Merciful, the Most Compassionate
يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
yā allāhu yā allāhu yā allāh
O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
يَا مُجِيبَ دَعْوَةِ ٱلْمُضْطَرِّينَ
yā mujība daʿwati l-muḍṭarrīn
O He Who responds to the prayer of the distressed!
يَا كَاشِفَ كُرَبِ ٱلْمَكْرُوبِينَ
yā kāshifa kurabi l-makrūbīn
O He Who relieves the agonies of the agonized!
يَا غِيَاثَ ٱلْمُسْتَغِيثِينَ
yā ghiyātha l-mustaghīthīn
O Aide of the callers for aid!
يَا صَرِيخَ ٱلْمُسْتَصْرِخِينَ
yā ṣarīkha l-mustaṣrikhīn
O Helper of those who cry for help!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ أَقْرَبُ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَبْلِ ٱلْوَرِيدِ
wa yā man huwa aqrabu ilayya min ḥabli l-warīd
O He Who is nearer to me than my life-vein!
وَيَا مَنْ يَحُولُ بَيْنَ ٱلْمَرْءِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa yā man yaḥūlu bayna l-marʾi wa qalbih
O He Who intervenes between man and his heart!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ بِٱلْمَنْظَرِ ٱلأَعْلَىٰ وَبِٱلأُفُقِ ٱلْمُبِينِ
wa yā man huwa bi-l-manẓari l-aʿlā wa bi-l-ufuqi l-mubīn
O He Who is in the Highest Position and in the Clear Horizon!
وَيَا مَنْ هُوَ ٱلرَّحْمٰنُ ٱلرَّحِيمُ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَرْشِ ٱسْتَوَىٰ
wa yā man huwa r-raḥmānu r-raḥīmu ʿalā l-ʿarshi stawā
O He Who is all-beneficent and all-merciful and is established on the Throne!
وَيَا مَنْ يَعْلَمُ خَائِنَةَ ٱلأَعْيُنِ وَمَا تُخْفِي ٱلصُّدُورُ
wa yā man yaʿlamu khāʾinata l-aʿyuni wa mā tukhfī ṣ-ṣudūr
O He Who knows the stealthy looks and that which the breasts conceal!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يَخْفَىٰ عَلَيْهِ خَافِيَةٌ
wa yā man lā yakhfā ʿalayhi khāfiyah
O He from Whom no secret can remain hidden!
يَا مَنْ لاَ تَشْتَبِهُ عَلَيْهِ ٱلأَصْوَاتُ
yā man lā tashtabihu ʿalayhi l-aṣwāt
O He Whom is not confused by the many voices (that pray Him)!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ تُغَلِّطُهُ ٱلْحَاجَاتُ
wa yā man lā tughalliṭuhu l-ḥājāt
O He Whom is not confounded by the many requests (that are raised to Him)!
وَيَا مَنْ لاَ يُبْرِمُهُ إِلْحَاحُ ٱلْمُلِحِّينَ
wa yā man lā yubrimuhu ilḥāḥu l-muliḥḥīn
O He Who is not annoyed by the insistence of those who entreat Him persistently!
يَا مُدْرِكَ كُلِّ فَوْتٍ
yā mudrika kulli fawt
O He Who overtakes every attempt of escape!
وَيَا جَامِعَ كُلِّ شَمْلٍ
wa yā jāmiʿa kulli shaml
O Reunifier of every scattering thing!
وَيَا بَارِئَ ٱلنُّفُوسِ بَعْدَ ٱلْمَوْتِ
wa yā bāriʾa n-nufūsi baʿda l-mawt
O Re-originator of the souls after death!
يَا مَنْ هُوَ كُلِّ يَوْمٍ فِي شَأْنٍ
yā man huwa kulli yawmin fī shaʾn
O He Who is in a state every moment!
يَا قَاضِيَ ٱلْحَاجَاتِ
yā qāḍiya l-ḥājāt
O Grantor of requests!
يَا مُنَفِّسَ ٱلْكُرُبَاتِ
yā munaffisa l-kurubāt
O Reliever of agonies!
يَا مُعْطِيَ ٱلسُّؤُلاَتِ
yā muʿṭiya s-suʾulāt
O Conferrer of demands!
يَا وَلِيَّ ٱلرَّغَبَاتِ
yā waliyya r-raghabāt
O Bestower of desires!
يَا كَافِيَ ٱلْمُهِمَّاتِ
yā kāfiya l-muhimmāt
O Savior from sufferings!
يَا مَنْ يَكْفِي مِنْ كُلِّ شَيْءٍ
yā man yakfī min kulli shayʾ
O He Who can save from all things
وَلاَ يَكْفِي مِنْهُ شَيْءٌ فِي ٱلسَّمَاوَاتِ وَٱلأَرْضِ
wa lā yakfī minhu shayʾun fī s-samāwāti wa l-arḍ
and nothing in the heavens or in the earth can save from Him!
أَسْأَلُكَ بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ خَاتَمِ ٱلنَّبِيِّينَ
asʾaluka bi-ḥaqqi muḥammadin khātami n-nabiyyīn
I beseech You in the name of Muhammad the seal of the Prophets,
وَعَلِيٍّ أَمِيرِ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
wa ʿaliyyin amīri l-muʾminīn
`Ali the commander of the faithful,
وَبِحَقِّ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ نَبِيِّكَ
wa bi-ḥaqqi fāṭimata binti nabiyyik
Fatimah the daughter of Your Prophet,
وَبِحَقِّ ٱلْحَسَنِ وَٱلْحُسَيْنِ
wa bi-ḥaqqi l-ḥasani wa l-ḥusayn
al-Hasan, and al-Husayn,
فَإِنِّي بِهِمْ أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
fa-innī bihim atawajjahu ilayka fī maqāmī hādhā
for I turn my face towards You in their names at this very situation of mine,
وَبِهِمْ أَتَوَسَّلُ
wa bihim atawassal
I make them my means to You,
وَبِهِمْ أَتَشَفَّعُ إِلَيْكَ
wa bihim atashaffaʿu ilayk
I seek their intercession for me with You,
وَبِحَقِّهِمْ أَسْأَلُكَ وَأُقْسِمُ وَأَعْزِمُ عَلَيْكَ
wa bi-ḥaqqihim asʾaluka wa uqsimu wa aʿzimu ʿalayk
I beseech You in the name of Your duty towards them, I adjure You, and I beg You earnestly,
وَبِٱلشَّأْنِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bi-sh-shaʾni lladhī lahum ʿindak
in the name of the status that they enjoy with You,
وَبِٱلْقَدْرِ ٱلَّذِي لَهُمْ عِنْدَكَ
wa bi-l-qadri lladhī lahum ʿindak
the value that they enjoy in Your sight,
وَبِٱلَّذِي فَضَّلْتَهُمْ عَلَىٰ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa bi-lladhī faḍḍaltahum ʿalā l-ʿālamīn
in the name of the thing by which You have preferred them over all the other beings,
وَبِٱسْمِكَ ٱلَّذِي جَعَلْتَهُ عِنْدَهُمْ
wa bismika lladhī jaʿaltahu ʿindahum
in the name of Your Name that You have placed with them
وَبِهِ خَصَصْتَهُمْ دُونَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa bihi khaṣaṣtahum dūna l-ʿālamīn
and given them exclusively other than all the other beings,
وَبِهِ أَبَنْتَهُمْ
wa bihi abantahum
and through which You have distinguished them
وَأَبَنْتَ فَضْلَهُمْ مِنْ فَضْلِ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ
wa abanta faḍlahum min faḍli l-ʿālamīn
and demonstrated their distinctive precedence over all the other beings so uniquely
حَتَّىٰ فَاقَ فَضْلُهُمْ فَضْلَ ٱلْعَالَمِينَ جَمِيعاً
ḥattā fāqa faḍluhum faḍla l-ʿālamīna jamīʿan
that their preference has exceeded all the distinctive features of all the other beings;
أَسْأَلُكَ أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
asʾaluka an tuṣalliya ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
I beseech You (in the name of all that) to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad,
وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي
wa an takshifa ʿannī ghammī
to relieve me from my distress,
وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
wa hammī wa karbī
grief, and agony,
وَتَكْفِيَنِي ٱلْمُهِمَّ مِنْ أُمُورِي
wa takfiyanī l-muhimma min umūrī
to make up for me all my distressing affairs,
وَتَقْضِيَ عَنِّي دَيْنِي
wa taqḍiya ʿannī daynī
to help me settle my debts,
وَتُجِيرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَقْرِ
wa tujīranī mina l-faqr
to safeguard me against poverty,
وَتُجِيرَنِي مِنَ ٱلْفَاقَةِ
wa tujīranī mina l-fāqah
to safeguard me against scarcity,
وَتُغْنِيَنِي عَنِ ٱلْمَسْأَلَةِ إِلَىٰ ٱلْمَخْلُوقِينَ
wa tughniyanī ʿani l-masʾalati ilā l-makhlūqīn
to make me dispense with begging from the created beings,
وَتَكْفِيَنِي هَمَّ مَنْ أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa takfiyanī hamma man akhāfu hammah
to spare me from the distress of what I anticipate to distress me,
وَعُسْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ عُسْرَهُ
wa ʿusra man akhāfu ʿusrah
the difficulty of what I anticipate to be difficult for me,
وَحُزُونَةَ مَنْ أَخَافُ حُزُونَتَهُ
wa ḥuzūnata man akhāfu ḥuzūnatah
the toughness of what I anticipate to be hard for me (to deal with),
وَشَرَّ مَنْ أَخَافُ شَرَّهُ
wa sharra man akhāfu sharrah
the evil of what I anticipate to be evil,
وَمَكْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَكْرَهُ
wa makra man akhāfu makrah
the conspiracy of whom I anticipate to plot conspiracy (against me),
وَبَغْيَ مَنْ أَخَافُ بَغْيَهُ
wa baghya man akhāfu baghyah
the tyranny of whom I anticipate to treat me tyrannically,
وَجَوْرَ مَنْ أَخَافُ جَوْرَهُ
wa jawra man akhāfu jawrah
the injustice of whom I anticipate to be unjust to me
وَسُلْطَانَ مَنْ أَخَافُ سُلْطَانَهُ
wa sulṭāna man akhāfu sulṭānah
the domination of whom I anticipate to dominate me,
وَكَيْدَ مَنْ أَخَافُ كَيْدَهُ
wa kayda man akhāfu kaydah
the trickery of whom I anticipate to trick me,
وَمَقْدُرَةَ مَنْ أَخَافُ مَقْدُرَتَهُ عَلَيَّ
wa maqdurata man akhāfu maqduratahu ʿalayy
and the authority of whom I anticipate to seize me,
وَتَرُدَّ عَنِّي كَيْدَ ٱلْكَيَدَةِ
wa tarudda ʿannī kayda l-kayadah
and to ward off from me the trickeries of the deceivers
وَمَكْرَ ٱلْمَكَرَةِ
wa makra l-makarah
and the cunning of the devious.
اَللَّهُمَّ مَنْ أَرَادَنِي فَأَرِدْهُ
allāhumma man arādanī fa-arid-hu
O Allah, stand for me against him who intends evil for me,
وَمَنْ كَادَنِي فَكِدْهُ
wa man kādanī fa-kid-hu
intrigue against him who intends to conspire against me,
وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي كَيْدَهُ وَمَكْرَهُ
waṣrif ʿannī kaydahu wa makrah
turn away from me his trickeries, cunning,
وَبَأْسَهُ وَأَمَانِيَّهُ
wa baʾsahu wa amāniyyah
influence, and evil desires,
وَٱمْنَعْهُ عَنِّي كَيْفَ شِئْتَ وَأَنَّىٰ شِئْتَ
wamnaʿhu ʿannī kayfa shiʾta wa annā shiʾt
and prevent him against me in any way You choose and at any time You choose.
اَللَّهُمَّ أَشْغِلْهُ عَنِّي
allāhumma ashghilhu ʿannī
O Allah, (please) preoccupy him against me
بِفَقْرٍ لاَ تَجْبُرُهُ
bi-faqrin lā tajburuh
by means of poverty that You never cut down,
وَبِبَلاءٍ لاَ تَسْتُرُهُ
wa bi-balāʾin lā tasturuh
ordeals that You never recover,
وَبِفَاقَةٍ لاَ تَسُدُّهَا
wa bi-fāqatin lā tasudduhā
neediness that You never stop,
وَبِسُقْمٍ لاَ تُعَافِيهِ
wa bi-suqmin lā tuʿāfīh
ailment that You never heal,
وَذُلٍّ لاَ تُعِزُّهُ
wa dhullin lā tuʿizzuh
humility that You never change into dignity,
وَبِمَسْكَنَةٍ لاَ تَجْبُرُهَا
wa bi-maskanatin lā tajburuhā
and destitution that You never cut down.
اَللَّهُمَّ ٱضْرِبْ بِٱلذُّلِّ نَصْبَ عَيْنَيْهِ
allāhumma ḍrib bi-dh-dhulli naṣba ʿaynayh
O Allah, (please) strike him with humility in the center of his eyes,
وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ ٱلْفَقْرَ فِي مَنْزِلِهِ
wa adkhil ʿalayhi l-faqra fī manzilih
interleave poverty to his own house,
وَٱلْعِلَّةَ وَٱلسُّقْمَ فِي بَدَنِهِ
wa l-ʿillata wa s-suqma fī badanih
place ailment and disease in his body
حَتَّىٰ تَشْغَلَهُ عَنِّي بِشُغْلٍ شَاغِلٍ لاَ فَرَاغَ لَهُ
ḥattā tashghalahu ʿannī bi-shughlin shāghilin lā farāgha lah
so that You will preoccupy him with an engrossing, relentless preoccupation,
وَأَنْسِهِ ذِكْرِي كَمَا أَنْسَيْتَهُ ذِكْرَكَ
wa ansihi dhikrī kamā ansaytahu dhikrak
make him fail to remember me in the same was as he has failed to remember You,
وَخُذْ عَنِّي بِسَمْعِهِ وَبَصَرِهِ
wa khudh ʿannī bi-samʿihi wa baṣarih
divert from me his hearing, sight,
وَلِسَانِهِ وَيَدِهِ
wa lisānihi wa yadih
tongue, hand,
وَرِجْلِهِ وَقَلْبِهِ
wa rijlihi wa qalbih
leg, heart,
وَجَمِيعِ جَوَارِحِهِ
wa jamīʿi jawāriḥih
and all of his organs,
وَأَدْخِلْ عَلَيْهِ فِي جَمِيعِ ذٰلِكَ ٱلسُّقْمَ
wa adkhil ʿalayhi fī jamīʿi dhālika s-suqm
place in him sickness in all these (organs),
وَلا تَشْفِهِ حَتَّىٰ تَجْعَلَ ذٰلِكَ لَهُ شُغْلاً شَاغِلاً بِهِ
wa lā tashfihi ḥattā tajʿala dhālika lahu shughlan shāghilan bih
and do not heal him so that all these (sicknesses) will preoccupy him relentlessly
عَنِّي وَعَنْ ذِكْرِي
ʿannī wa ʿan dhikrī
from me and from mentioning me.
وَٱكْفِنِي يَا كَافِي مَا لاَ يَكْفِي سِوَاكَ
wakfinī yā kāfī mā lā yakfī siwāk
And spare me, O Savior, from all that which cannot be spared by anyone other than You,
فَإِنَّكَ ٱلْكَافِي لاَ كَافِيَ سِوَاكَ
fa-innaka l-kāfī lā kāfiya siwāk
for You are verily the Savior; and there is no savior other than You,
وَمُفَرِّجٌ لاَ مُفَرِّجَ سِوَاكَ
wa mufarrijun lā mufarrija siwāk
You are verily the Reliever, and there is no reliever other than You,
وَمُغِيثٌ لاَ مُغِيثَ سِوَاكَ
wa mughīthun lā mughītha siwāk
You are verily the Succorer, and there is no succorer other than You,
وَجَارٌ لاَ جَارَ سِوَاكَ
wa jārun lā jāra siwāk
and You are verily the Shelterer, and there is no shelterer other than You.
خَابَ مَنْ كَانَ جَارُهُ سِوَاكَ
khāba man kāna jāruhu siwāk
Disappointed is he whose shelterer is other than You,
وَمُغِيثُهُ سِوَاكَ
wa mughīthuhu siwāk
whose recourse to anywhere other than You,
وَمَفْزَعُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mafzaʿuhu ilā siwāk
whose resort is anywhere other than You,
وَمَهْرَبُهُ إِلَىٰ سِوَاكَ
wa mahrabuhu ilā siwāk
whose way out is anywhere other than You,
وَمَلْجَأُهُ إِلَىٰ غَيْرِكَ
wa maljaʾuhu ilā ghayrik
whose haven is anywhere other than You,
وَمَنْجَاهُ مِنْ مَخْلُوقٍ غَيْرِكَ
wa manjāhu min makhlūqin ghayrik
and whose savior from any created being is anyone other than You.
فَأَنْتَ ثِقَتِي وَرَجَائِي
fa-anta thiqatī wa rajāʾī
You are verily my trust, my hope,
وَمَفْزَعِي وَمَهْرَبِي
wa mafzaʿī wa mahrabī
my resort, my way out,
وَمَلْجَإِي وَمَنْجَايَ
wa maljaʾī wa manjāy
my haven, and my savior.
فَبِكَ أَسْتَفْتِحُ
fa-bika astaftiḥ
With You do I commence
وَبِكَ أَسْتَنْجِحُ
wa bika astanjiḥ
and through You do I seek success.
وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
wa bi-muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
أَتَوَجَّهُ إِلَيْكَ وَأَتَوَسَّلُ وَأَتَشَفَّعُ
atawajjahu ilayka wa atawassalu wa atashaffaʿ
do I turn my face towards You, seek means to You, and seek intercession to You.
فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
fa-asʾaluka yā allāhu yā allāhu yā allāh
So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
فَلَكَ ٱلْحَمْدُ وَلَكَ ٱلشُّكْرُ
fa-laka l-ḥamdu wa laka sh-shukr
Yours is all praise and Yours is all thanks.
وَإِلَيْكَ ٱلْمُشْتَكَىٰ وَأَنْتَ ٱلْمُسْتَعَانُ
wa ilayka l-mushtakā wa anta l-mustaʿān
To You is my complaint and You are the Besought for help.
فَأَسْأَلُكَ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ يَا اللَّهُ
fa-asʾaluka yā allāhu yā allāhu yā allāh
So, I beseech You, O Allah! O Allah! O Allah!
بِحَقِّ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
bi-ḥaqqi muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
In the name of Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
أَنْ تُصَلِّيَ عَلَىٰ مُحَمَّدٍ وَآلِ مُحَمَّدٍ
an tuṣalliya ʿalā muḥammadin wa āli muḥammad
to send blessings upon Muhammad and the Household of Muhammad
وَأَنْ تَكْشِفَ عَنِّي غَمِّي وَهَمِّي وَكَرْبِي
wa an takshifa ʿannī ghammī wa hammī wa karbī
and to relieve my distress, grief, and agony
فِي مَقَامِي هٰذَا
fī maqāmī hādhā
in this situation of mine
كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْ نَبِيِّكَ هَمَّهُ وَغَمَّهُ وَكَرْبَهُ
kamā kashafta ʿan nabiyyika hammahu wa ghammahu wa karbah
in the same way as You have relieved the distress, grief, and agony of Your Prophet
وَكَفَيْتَهُ هَوْلَ عَدُوِّهِ
wa kafaytahu hawla ʿaduwwih
and saved him from the horrors of his enemy.
فَٱكْشِفْ عَنِّي كَمَا كَشَفْتَ عَنْهُ
fa-kshif ʿannī kamā kashafta ʿanh
So, (please) relieve me in the same way as You did to him,
وَفَرِّجْ عَنِّي كَمَا فَرَّجْتَ عَنْهُ
wa farrij ʿannī kamā farrajta ʿanh
dispel my worries in the same way as You did to him,
وَٱكْفِنِي كَمَا كَفَيْتَهُ
wakfinī kamā kafaytah
save me in the same way as You did to him,
وَٱصْرِفْ عَنِّي هَوْلَ مَا أَخَافُ هَوْلَهُ
waṣrif ʿannī hawla mā akhāfu hawlah
drive away from me the horror of what I anticipate to horrify me,
وَمَؤُونَةَ مَا أَخَافُ مَؤُونَتَهُ
wa maʾūnata mā akhāfu maʾūnatah
the encumbrance of what I anticipate to overburden me,
وَهَمَّ مَا أَخَافُ هَمَّهُ
wa hamma mā akhāfu hammah
and the distress of what I anticipate to distress me
بِلا مَؤُونَةٍ عَلَىٰ نَفْسِي مِنْ ذٰلِكَ
bi-lā maʾūnatin ʿalā nafsī min dhālik
without making me suffer any encumbrance due to all that.
وَٱصْرِفْنِي بِقَضَاءِ حَوَائِجِي
waṣrifnī bi-qaḍāʾi ḥawāʾijī
And make me leave having all my requests granted
وَكِفَايَةِ مَا أَهَمَّنِي هَمُّهُ
wa kifāyati mā ahammanī hammuh
and having all my distresses relieved,
مِنْ أَمْرِ آخِرَتِي وَدُنْيَايَ
min amri ākhiratī wa dunyāy
including the affairs of this world and the Hereafter.
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
yā amīra l-muʾminīn
O Commander of the Faithful!
وَيَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ
wa yā abā ʿabdi llāh
O Abu-`Abdullah!
عَلَيْكُمَا مِنِّي سَلامُ ٱللَّهِ أَبَداً
ʿalaykumā minnī salāmu llāhi abadan
Peace of Allah be upon you both from me forever
مَا بَقِيتُ وَبَقِيَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ
mā baqītu wa baqiya l-laylu wa n-nahār
as long as I am existent and as long as there are day and night.
وَلاَ جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
wa lā jaʿalahu llāhu ākhira l-ʿahdi min ziyāratikumā
May Allah not decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.
وَلاَ فَرَّقَ ٱللَّهُ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَكُمَا
wa lā farraqa llāhu baynī wa baynakumā
May Allah never separate me from you both.
اَللَّهُمَّ أَحْيِنِي حَيَاةَ مُحَمَّدٍ وَذُرِّيَّتِهِ
allāhumma aḥyinī ḥayāta muḥammadin wa dhurriyyatih
O Allah, (please) make me live the same lifestyle that Muhammad and his offspring lived,
وَأَمِتْنِي مَمَاتَهُمْ
wa amitnī mamātahum
make me die on the same faith on which they died,
وَتَوَفَّنِي عَلَىٰ مِلَّتِهِمْ
wa tawaffanī ʿalā millatihim
receive my soul while I am following their religion,
وَٱحْشُرْنِي فِي زُمْرَتِهِمْ
waḥshurnī fī zumratihim
include me with their group,
وَلاَ تُفَرِّقْ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُمْ
wa lā tufarriq baynī wa baynahum
and never separate me from them
طَرْفَةَ عَيْنٍ أَبَداً
ṭarfata ʿaynin abadan
not for even a winking of any eye
فِي ٱلدُّنْيَا وَٱلآخِرَةِ
fī d-dunyā wa l-ākhirah
in this world and in the Hereafter.
يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ
yā amīra l-muʾminīn
O Commander of the Faithful!
وَيَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ
wa yā abā ʿabdi llāh
O Abu-`Abdullah!
أَتَيْتُكُمَا زَائِراً
ataytukumā zāʾiran
I have come to you both to visit you,
وَمُتَوَسِّلاً إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ رَبِّي وَرَبِّكُمَا
wa mutawassilan ilā llāhi rabbī wa rabbikumā
making both of you to be my means to Allah your and my Lord,
وَمُتَوَجِّهاً إِلَيْهِ بِكُمَا
wa mutawajjihan ilayhi bikumā
turning my face to Him in your names,
وَمُسْتَشْفِعاً بِكُمَا إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ تَعَالَىٰ فِي حَاجَتِي هٰذِهِ
wa mustashfiʿan bikumā ilā llāhi taʿālā fī ḥājatī hādhih
and seeking your intercession for me with Allah All-exalted to grant me this request of mine;
فَٱشْفَعَا لِي
fa-shfaʿā lī
so, intercede for me,
فَإِنَّ لَكُمَا عِنْدَ ٱللَّهِ ٱلْمَقَامَ ٱلْمَحْمُودَ
fa-inna lakumā ʿinda llāhi l-maqāma l-maḥmūd
since you both enjoy with Allah a praiseworthy position,
وَٱلْجَاهَ ٱلْوَجِيهَ
wa l-jāha l-wajīh
an admissible status,
وَٱلْمَنْزِلَ ٱلرَّفِيعَ وَٱلْوَسِيلَةَ
wa l-manzila r-rafīʿa wa l-wasīlah
a lofty standing, and a means (of nearness to Him).
إِنِّي أَنْقَلِبُ عَنْكُمَا
innī anqalibu ʿankumā
I will now leave you both,
مُنْتَظِراً لِتَنَجُّزِ ٱلْحَاجَةِ
muntaẓiran li-tanajjuzi l-ḥājah
expecting my request to be granted,
وَقَضَائِهَا وَنَجَاحِهَا مِنَ ٱللَّهِ
wa qaḍāʾihā wa najāḥihā mina llāh
settled, and made successful by Allah
بِشَفَاعَتِكُمَا لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ فِي ذٰلِكَ
bi-shafāʿatikumā lī ilā llāhi fī dhālik
on account of your intercession for me with Allah in that;
فَلا أَخِيبُ
fa-lā akhīb
so, do not let me down
وَلاَ يَكونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً خَائِباً خَاسِراً
wa lā yakūnu munqalabī munqalaban khāʾiban khāsiran
and do not make me leave with disappointment and loss;
بَلْ يَكُونُ مُنْقَلَبِي مُنْقَلَباً رَاجِحاً
bal yakūnu munqalabī munqalaban rājiḥan
rather, make me leave with achievement,
مُفْلِحاً مُنْجِحاً مُسْتَجَاباً
mufliḥan munjiḥan mustajāban
prosperity, success, and response (of my prayers)
بِقَضَاءِ جَمِيعِ حَوَائِجِي
bi-qaḍāʾi jamīʿi ḥawāʾijī
by having all my requests granted.
وَتَشَفَّعَا لِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
wa tashaffaʿā lī ilā llāh
And (please) intercede for me with Allah recurrently.
إِنْقَلَبْتُ عَلَىٰ مَا شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
inqalabtu ʿalā mā shāʾa llāh
I now leave on ‘whatever is willed by Allah shall come to pass’
وَلا حَوْلَ وَلا قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāh
and ‘there is neither might nor power except with Allah’,
مُفَوِّضاً أَمْرِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mufawwiḍan amrī ilā llāh
relegating all my affairs to Allah,
مُلْجِئاً ظَهْرِي إِلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
muljiʾan ẓahrī ilā llāh
referring all my power to Allah,
مُتَوَكِّلاً عَلَىٰ ٱللَّهِ
mutawakkilan ʿalā llāh
depending upon Allah,
وَأَقُولُ حَسْبِيَ ٱللَّهُ وَكَفَىٰ
wa aqūlu ḥasbiya llāhu wa kafā
and repeating, ‘Allah is only sufficient to me,’
سَمِعَ ٱللَّهُ لِمَنْ دَعَا
samiʿa llāhu li-man daʿā
and ‘May Allah respond to him who prays Him.’
لَيْسَ لِي وَرَاءَ ٱللَّهِ
laysa lī warāʾa llāh
Other than Allah
وَوَرَاءَكُمْ يَا سَادَتِي مُنْتَهَىٰ
wa warāʾakum yā sādatī muntahā
and other than you all, O my masters, I have nothing to put my hope in.
مَا شَاءَ رَبِّي كَانَ
mā shāʾa rabbī kān
Only that which my Lord wills shall come to pass,
وَمَا لَمْ يَشَأْ لَمْ يَكُنْ
wa mā lam yashaʾ lam yakun
and whatever He does not will shall never be.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāh
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
أَسْتَوْدِعُكُمَا ٱللَّهَ
astawdiʿukumā llāh
I entrust you both with Allah.
وَلا جَعَلَهُ ٱللَّهُ آخِرَ ٱلْعَهْدِ مِنِّي إِلَيْكُمَا
wa lā jaʿalahu llāhu ākhira l-ʿahdi minnī ilaykumā
May Allah never decide this time of my visit to you both to be the last.
إِنْصَرَفْتُ يَا سَيِّدِي يَا أَمِيرَ ٱلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَمَوْلاَي
inṣaraftu yā sayyidī yā amīra l-muʾminīna wa mawlāy
May I now leave, O my master, O Commander of the faithful
وَأَنْتَ يَا أَبَا عَبْدِ ٱللَّهِ يَا سَيِّدِي
wa anta yā abā ʿabdi llāhi yā sayyidī
and you O Abu-`Abdullah, O my master.
وَسَلاَمِي عَلَيْكُمَا مُتَّصِلٌ
wa salāmī ʿalaykumā muttaṣil
My greetings to you both are as continuous
مَا ٱتَّصَلَ ٱللَّيْلُ وَٱلنَّهَارُ
mā ttaṣala l-laylu wa n-nahār
as night and day.
وَاصِلٌ ذٰلِكَ إِلَيْكُمَا
wāṣilun dhālika ilaykumā
May my greetings reach you both (all the time)
غَيْرُ مَحْجُوبٍ عَنْكُمَا سَلاَمِي
ghayru maḥjūbin ʿankumā salāmī
and my salutation never be screened from reaching you both,
إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
in shāʾa llāh
Allah willing.
وَأَسْأَلُهُ بِحَقِّكُمَا أَنْ يَشَاءَ ذٰلِكَ وَيَفْعَلَ
wa asʾaluhu bi-ḥaqqikumā an yashāʾa dhālika wa yafʿal
I also beseech Him in your names to determine and do that,
فَإِنَّهُ حَمِيدٌ مَجِيدٌ
fa-innahu ḥamīdun majīd
for He is verily the owner of praise and the owner of glory.
إِنْقَلَبْتُ يَا سَيِّدَيَّ عَنْكُمَا
inqalabtu yā sayyidayya ʿankumā
I am now leaving you both, O my masters,
تَائِباً حَامِداً لِلَّهِ
tāʾiban ḥāmidan li-llāh
repenting to and praising Allah,
شَاكِراً رَاجِياً لِلإِْجَابَةِ
shākiran rājiyan li-l-ijābah
and thanking Him and hoping Him to respond to me;
غَيْرَ آيِسٍ وَلاَ قَانِطٍ
ghayra āyisin wa lā qāniṭ
I neither despair nor lose hope,
آئِباً عَائِداً رَاجِعاً إِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
āʾiban ʿāʾidan rājiʿan ilā ziyāratikumā
and I intend to come back, return, revisit you both,
غَيْرَ رَاغِبٍ عَنْكُمَا وَلاَ عَنْ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
ghayra rāghibin ʿankumā wa lā ʿan ziyāratikumā
while I have never desired to leave you or to abandon visiting you;
بَلْ رَاجِعٌ عَائِدٌ إِنْ شَاءَ ٱللَّهُ
bal rājiʿun ʿāʾidun in shāʾa llāh
rather, I shall return and come back, if Allah wills.
وَلاَ حَوْلَ وَلاَ قُوَّةَ إِلاَّ بِٱللَّهِ
wa lā ḥawla wa lā quwwata illā bi-llāh
There is neither might nor power except with Allah.
يَا سَادَتِي رَغِبْتُ إِلَيْكُمَا وَإِلَىٰ زِيَارَتِكُمَا
yā sādatī raghibtu ilaykumā wa ilā ziyāratikumā
O my masters, I do desire for both of you and for visiting you
بَعْدَ أَنْ زَهِدَ فِيكُمَا وَفِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا أَهْلُ ٱلدُّنْيَا
baʿda an zahida fīkumā wa fī ziyāratikumā ahlu d-dunyā
although the people of this world (may) abandon you both or abandon visiting you.
فَلاَ خَيَّبَنِيَ ٱللَّهُ مِمَّا رَجَوْتُ وَمَا أَمَّلْتُ فِي زِيَارَتِكُمَا
fa-lā khayyabaniya llāhu mimmā rajawtu wa mā ammaltu fī ziyāratikumā
May Allah never make me fail to attain what I have hoped and desired in visiting you both.
إِنَّهُ قَرِيبٌ مُجِيبٌ
innahu qarībun mujīb
Verily, He is All-nigh, All-responding.
